A Return to Favorite Places

The Castillo de San Marcos site is the oldest masonry fort in the United States. It is located in the city of St. Augustine, Florida.  This is one of the most amazing places in the United States for our history, beauty, and of course, photography.

Return to The Castillo

We have returned once again to The Castillo de San Marcos, site of the oldest masonry fort in the United States. It is located in the city of St. Augustine, Florida and always a favorite photographic stop for the history and beauty of this amazing place.  This image was photographed on a blazing hot 100- degree day but the interior rooms were actually bearable.  One can almost “feel” the intensity of this place not only in the weather but in its history.  Add it to your “places to visit and photograph” list.

The Costillo – Revisting History

We return again to the 333 year-old Castillo De San Marcos which we are documenting photographically for American history and architecture projects in St. Augustine, Florida. These images capture life as they lived, worked and served in the Castillo.  The amazing “Coquina” structure in its exterior and interior make a beautiful subject for HDR photography.  We chose in these images to depict them in black and white photography much like the original first photographic images.
