Winter in Black and White

How lovely is photography in black and white that enhances the beauty of nature.  Trees speak of their age, beauty and individuality in this media.  Whether through film, digital, or infrared, HDR processing or art, it is much desired and loved and becomes a favorite in our galleries.  This coming Spring JayJacy Photography, HDRChic and RealArtPhotography will photograph the Virginia Arboretum at Blandy Farm and other historical gardens of Virginia in Black and White Media for our Historical Gardens Art on Canvas Project.

Winter in the Boulevard

THE FROST has settled down upon the trees
And ruthlessly strangled off the fantasies
Of leaves that have gone unnoticed, swept like old
Romantic stories now no more to be told.

The trees down the boulevard stand naked in thought,
Their abundant summery wordage silenced, caught
In the grim undertow; naked the trees confront
Implacable winter’s long, cross-questioning brunt.

Has some hand balanced more leaves in the depths of the twigs?
Some dim little efforts placed in the threads of the birch?—
It is only the sparrows, like dead black leaves on the sprigs,
Sitting huddled against the cerulean, one flesh with their perch.

The clear, cold sky coldly bethinks itself.
Like vivid thought the air spins bright, and all
Trees, birds, and earth, arrested in the after-thought
Awaiting the sentence out from the welkin brought.*

Spring Comes Again to Biltmore Estate Gardens

JayJacy Photography

Time is flying by and it will soon be spring and travel to our favorite spring places.  This year we are adding the ocean to our travel itinerary as well as our number one destination the amazing Biltmore Estate and Gardens.  This historical place is a photographer’s dream from the beautiful architecture to the landscapes with the Blue Ridge mountains as a backdrop to the Conservatory, winery, equestrian center and more. Our favorite, the “Blooms” (Festival of Flowers) each year is a must-do for floral and landscape photographers. The Biltmore is very hospitable to photographers and encourage you to photograph the grounds and gardens.  There are so many opportunities for photography, not only for the professional photographer but for all photographers and visitors. Take advantage of the beauty at Biltmore.

O Trees at Sunset, I am Mesmerized

O Trees at Sunset, I am Mesmerized

…O gnarled tree…you are loved yet!  I have found such beauty and respite at this place that I chose another image from this photoshoot to share this week.  There is really something quite poetic in this place from the beautiful sunrise-sunsets, hills and roads (the “Road Less Traveled is another from this series), the various trees, new, old and gnarled, gardens, secret pathways and more.  One easily loses themselves in the beauty of this place.
