Beautiful sunsets deserve a second showing. As we ready for the beautiful sunrise and sunsets in the Shenandoah Valley we are inspired by the simplicity of photography subjects that can be a forefront to our amazing sunrise-sunsets here in the Valley. They always inspire poetic verse!

It’s Summer 2018 and we are planning another “high places” adventure that includes one of our favorite spots on the East Coast, Mt. Washington. This image was shot originally on slide film and later converted to digital and HDR for processing for sharing online. We still love shooting with film cameras including infrared and often carry that gear with us on these treks. This year we will use all of our new gear, special lenses and more to capture these amazing vistas of the three state area from all angles. “On a clear day you can see forever.” Let’s hope this trek we have those clear days to capture its full beauty. What a show it is!

Our trek to the summit of Mt. Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire was amazing. They have one of the most incredible mountain views in the United States. We drove up to the summit via car and photographed as we climbed so that we could capture Mt. Washington from its various elevations and views. It was during the fall foliage season and the weather changes were true to its reputation. From the bottom to summit it was severe and every moment as the clouds, fog and wind twirled around us, we were sure a great snowstorm was forthcoming and we would have to stay on the mountain overnight or longer. What an adventure in photography.

It is famous for its dangerously erratic weather, and long-held the record for the highest wind gust directly measured at the Earth’s surface, 231 mph (372 km/h) (or 103 m/s), on the afternoon of April 12, 1934.It was known as Agiocochook, or “Home of the Great Spirit”, before European settlers arrived. The mountain is located in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, in Coos County, New Hampshire. It is the third highest state high point and the most prominent peak in the eastern United States. HDR Photography at Photowalks for 2012: Winchester Photowalk
